Major shareholders of National Hydropower (NHPC) have requested Hathaway Group to take over the management of the company. NHPC has been sunk in the internal conflict since the long period.  The major shareholders of the company including Laxmi Bahadur Shrestha of NB Group and others requested Ambika Prasad Poudel of Hathaway Group of taking over the management in a major shareholders' meeting held at Bhatbhateni, Kathmandu on July 25.

In the meeting, Laxmi Bahadur accepting that the company has not been able to provide a return to the investors due to the internal conflict requested the Hathaway Group to take over the management. Shrestha, the main person behind the business family having the major shareholding of the company also committed to ease the procedure for the new management.

Meanwhile, Ambika Prasad Poudel saying that the Hathaway group has taken the request in a positive manner clarified that the group tends to control National Hydro only if the company choose to be conflict free.

"Only if all the shareholders share a common voice and commit for support in the AGM, we are ready to take over the company. We do not want to be trapped in a conflict ridden company" said Poudel. He stressed that the group cannot help the troubled company on its own, all shareholders need to equally support it.
