Chilime Hydro Increases Net Profit by 1%

Chilime Hydropower Company (CHCL) has earned a net profit of Rs 938.7 million in the last FY. The net profit has increased by 1 percent compared to the net profit of the previous FY. In the previous FY, the company earned net profit of Rs 937.1 million.

Although its income from the sale of electricity decreased during the period, its profit increased following the increase in its interest income. During the review period, while its income from the sale of electricity decreased to Rs 1.13 billion from earlier Rs 1.19 billion, its interest income increased to Rs 68.2 million from Rs 39.3 million. In the period, its income from the sale of electricity decreased by 4.88 percent whereas its income from interest increased by 73.39 percent.

Moreover, a decrease in operating expenses also helped its net profit to rise. The operating expense which was Rs 73.5 million in the previous FY decreased to Rs 46.2 million in the last FY.

The company with Rs 3.96 billion in paid-up capital has EPS of Rs 23.68, a reserve fund of Rs 4.98 billion, net worth per share of Rs 225 and P/E ratio of 33.37 times.
