A consultative meeting was held with donor groups today in view of the upcoming 'Nepal Investment Conference' aims to promote Nepal as an attractive destination for investment. The conference has been scheduled for March 29-30.

In the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance under the chair of conference organising committee coordinator and Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, bilateral and multilateral partners of Nepal's development gave legal, governmental and procedural feedback.

The meeting was attended by chiefs and deputy chiefs of most of diplomatic missions based in Kathmandu, multilateral and bilateral development partners and representatives from the Institute of International Finance.

They gave their commitments to doing the best to bring in encouraging investment in Nepal, according to minister Khatiwada. The conference will go through broader discussions about Nepal's agriculture, energy, physical infrastructure (operation and expansion of rail, roadway and air services) and investment increase in the industrial and information technology sectors.

The Investment Board; the Ministry of Finance; the Ministry of Industry; the Ministry of Commerce and Supply and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are jointly organising the event to be supported by the private sector. It is expected to be helpful in drawing the foreign investment at home. The government concluding that the previous conference of such type held two years back was successful decided to hold another one as it seeks to further promote the foreign investment in the country.
