CIAA arrests policeman for bribery

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday held a police person on the charge of asking for bribe with a service seeker.

A team of police deployed by Itahari branch of CIAA arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Padam Bahadur Katuwal who was working in a police post at Jhokraha in Sunsari district.

Acting on a tip-off, the team arrested Katuwal from nearby his office after he was learnt to have asked for bribe of Rs 7,000.

According to the CIAA’s Spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Koirala, Katuwal  had promised the service seeker to fudge the paper for the person on whose name an arrest warrant had been  issued by the Ministry of Forest.

Meanwhile, CIAA lodged case against land surveyor Shyam Krishna Neupane and notary official Bishnu KC at the Land Survey Office in Sankhu on the charges of asking for Rs 150,000 in bribe from a service seeker.

Similarly, CIAA also filed a case against ward member of Ekdara Rural Municipality-4 in Mahottari district, Ram Chandra Raya Yadav, at the Special Court on the charges of taking bribe of Rs 36,000 from a service seeker.

 He had promised the service-seeker to facilitate the release of the budget from the Rural Municipality to build a religious guest house.

The anti-graft body has demanded imprisonment and recovery of the lost amount against him.
