Code of Conduct for General Insurance Companies Formulated

Nepal Insurers Association under the guidance of Insurance Board (IB) has formulated "Codes of conduct for general insurers, 2076".

The association formulated the code of conduct in a bid to control corrupt insurer and surveyor.

The code of conduct mentioned that if any insured make a fraudulent claim and take payment of such claim or make multiple claims of a single incident, such insured will be subjected to face punishment and will be barred from taking insurance coverage from any insurer in future.

Similarly, the code of conduct bars any surveyor from making fraudulent report under any influence of insured, give intentional trouble to insured,  prepare fake report taking bribes and delaying report without a valid reason. If any surveyor indulged in such scams, he/she will be banned from working as a surveyor in any insurance companies in the future.

Likewise, the code of conduct lists a number of disciplinary actions that should be followed by the insurers.   It includes the members of the insurer should respect each other, restriction on the blame game, well behavior with employees and be soft-spoken.
