Minister Pun holds discussion with stakeholders regarding determination of compensation of Budhigandaki project affected land

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshman Pun on Sunday held consultation with stakeholders regarding determination of compensation of land under Budhigandaki Hydropower Project.

During the meeting held at the Ministry with lawmakers and former lawmakers representing from Gorkha and Dhading districts, Minister Pun expressed commitment to take Budhigandaki hydel project and compensation related issues to logical conclusion.

 Saying Budhigandaki hydropower project is the national pride project, he said that the ministry was ready to move ahead by determining the compensation.

Minister Pun also urged all bodies concerned to help the ministry in this task. Saying Budhigandaki hydro project is in the priority of the government, he asked bodies concerned not to cast doubt on it.

The Energy Minister said, "Prime Minister, government and ministry is committed to forward Budhigandaki project. The project is in top priority of the government. We have been holding discussion on different modality to forward the project. So it is not necessary to cast doubt on it."

 The government has already distributed compensation of more than 44,000 ropanis of land and there is remaining to provide compensation of 1,800 ropanis of land. 

The government has been holding discussion with all stakeholders to determine compensation of land specially located at Arught, Arkhet and Khahare bazaar and its surrounding areas. 

On the occasion, former Minister Gangalal Tuladhar urged Minster Pun to forward the project as soon as possible. Saying Budhigandaki project is 'game-changer' project of the country, he stressed that the government should put the project in priority. 

Similarly, Nepali congress leader Chinkaji Shrestha said that they were ready to help the government to forward the project. 

Likewise, lawmaker Hari Adhikari urged the Energy Minister to finalise the compensation of the remaining land.

Member of House of Representatives, Bhumi Tripathi, member of state assembly Ram Kumar Adhikari and former lawmaker Guru Burlakoti were also present in the meeting.
