NEPSE to change circuit breaker rule of, readies three modalities

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) is revising the existing provisions of circuit breakers as per the demand and necessity of market.

Chandra Singh Saud, CEO of NEPSE said "We are changing the provisions of circuit breakers. For that matter, we are having discussion with investors, companies and SEBON."

NEPSE has already prepared tentative models. The prepared models are being discussed with the stakeholders.

As per NEPSE, it studied the international practice while preparing these models.  However, investors have been demanding to scrap the rules saying it is not practical. As per NEPSE, it has prepared the models to address their demands.

Currently, separate circuit breakers are applied in pre-open session and regular session in NEPSE. The pre-open session is for 15 minutes from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM. The share price can be fluctuated up to five percent in  that 15 minutes of trading.

The regular session runs from 11 AM to 3 PM. In that session, the share price of a company can be increased / decreased by only two percent per transaction. Similarly, the value of a company can fluctuate up to 10 percent in a regular session.
