Net Profit of Bank of Kathmandu declines

The net profit of Bank of Kathmandu has declined by 22.21 percent to Rs 1.47 billion in the fourth quarter of the last FY compared to Rs 1.89 billion of the corresponding period of the previous FY.

The decline in net profit can be attributed to decrease net interest income and operating profit.

During the period, the distributable profit of the bank has also decreased by 32.25 percent. The distributable profit which was Rs 1.30 billion in the previous FY has declined to Rs 880.7 million in the last FY.

Along with the net profit, the EPS of the bank has also declined. The EPS has declined by Rs 6.27 to Rs 17.26 in the review period. During the period, the bank logged P/E ratio of 12.69 and net asset per share of Rs 167.44.

The bank with paid-up capital of Rs 8.54 billion has reserve fund of Rs 4.80 billion and shareholders fund of Rs 955.2 million.

In the review period, the bank collected deposit of Rs 921 billion and extended loan of Rs 759.1 billion. The bank earned Rs 3.58 billion in net interest income during the period. Similarly, its earned operating profit of Rs 2.11 billion.

By the last FY, the non-performing loan of the bank increased to 2.35 percent from earlier 1.54 percent. The bank has spread rate of 3.81 percent and base rate of 8.71 percent.
