Plast Nepal Foundation has organized third edition of ‘The Plast Nepal 2022’ Exhibition at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu.

Issuing a press statement, the company informed that the event attracted around 5,000 plastic entrepreneurs from Nepal's major plastics industries and its neighboring countries including India.

Rahul Agarwal, the President of Plast Nepal Foundation said, "The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has spurred the start-up of more plastics manufacturing firms in Nepal." He added that the foundation has been working closely with the government and industrialists on all aspects of plastic recycling and waste management.

According to the statement, global freight bottlenecks due to the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted deliveries to Nepal. This inspired the start-up of new packaging manufacturers in Nepal. "We used to import lots of product from neighboring countries earlier," said Agarwal, "But we are now becoming self-sufficient in all kinds of packaging, pipes and water tanks, as well as other household products."

"The exhibition was a huge success and played a positive role in showcasing quality and accessible plastic products meant for the end consumers," said Vivek Tate, Vice President of Plast Nepal Foundation. It is keen on increasing efforts in the recycling and circularity space. The Foundation is also lobbying for the installation of recycling bins for public usage across the country.

“The growth of Nepal's plastics sector attracted key producers from Saudi Arabia, Oman, India and South Korea who participated in the Plast Nepal 2022 exhibition. The event registered an estimated footfall of 1,00,000 spectators and there were 126 different stalls exhibiting plastic products, raw materials and machine tools among others”, reads the statement.
