According to the Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) under Ministry of Finance, Nepal's total outstanding public debt has increased to Rs. 2,654.68 billion as of mid-June 2025. The public debt was Rs. 2,434.09 billion at the beginning of the current fiscal year and Rs 200 billion was added by June 14, 2025.
The government has set a target of mobilizing Rs 547 billion of loans, out of which 75.72 percent i.e. Rs 419 billion has been obtained.
Out of this, 76.95 percent has been collected through domestic borrowing while 23.95 percent through external loans.
