Fire destroys 330 hectares of forest in Jumla

The wildfire destroyed more than 330 hectares of forest area in the district of Jumla in the last fiscal year.

The Chief of Division Forest Office, Bharat Budhthapa, said that the wildfires occurred in 29 sites in the district destroyed 330.28 hectares of forest area in Jumla.

Likewise, wildfires have occurred in six locations in the district, destroying nearly 100 hectares of forest, according to Chief of Division Forest Office Budhthapa.

Currently, the Office is observing a weeklong programme to control fires in partnership with three layers of government and the community.

The Office also organized an interaction programme with the forest security coordination committee and stakeholders for effective measures to control forest fires.

On the occasion, Assistant Chief District Officer of Jumla Min Bahadur Rawal said that the role of the community was crucial in forest conservation. (RSS)
