The arrest comes after the newly formed government led by Shah, in its first cabinet meeting, decided to implement the report prepared by the probe commission led by former Special Court Chair Gauri Bahadur Karki. The commission had held Lekhak, along with former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, responsible for the incident.
Following the decision, Home Minister Sudan Gurung held continuous discussions with the heads of security agencies throughout the night.
Oli and the writer have been kept at the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
