Commercial banks announce new interest rates for Ashad

As many as 20 commercial banks in Nepal have released their new interest rate schedules for the month of Ashad. According to the published notices, the average interest rate of deposits has declined slightly in the month of Ashad compared to Jestha.

The average maximum interest rate on personal deposits decreased to 4.2655 percentage points in Ashad from 4.343 percent in Jestha. Similarly, the average rate of institutional deposits has also decreased to 3.18 percentage points from 3.204 percentage points during the period..

In the review period, Laxmi Sunrise Bank and NIC Asia Bank reduced the interest rate on individuals by 0.5 percent point. Likewise, Himalayan bank slashed the interest rate by 0.25 percent point, Prime Commercial Bank by 0.15 percent point, and NMB Bank, Standard Chartered and Kumari Bank by 0.05 percent point.

As many as 14 banks including Rastriya Banijya Bank, Nabil Bank, Prabhu Bank and Sanima Bank have continued to increase the interest rates for the month of Ashad.
