SEBON to Boost Renewable Energy Investment via Capital Markets

The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has unveiled its capital market policy for the fiscal year 2083/84, aimed at mobilizing long-term capital for the development of renewable energy and hydropower projects.

Strategic Initiatives

To drive sustainable infrastructure growth and enhance market opportunities, the government has introduced the following measures:

  • Green Bonds: Implementation of 'Green Bonds' and other environmentally conscious financial instruments to channel investment directly into hydropower and renewable energy infrastructure.

  • Collective Investment: Development of frameworks allowing investors to pool resources, making it easier to enter the hydropower sector.

  • Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs): Authorization for the operation of ETFs to provide investors with a platform for diversifying their portfolios within the hydropower industry.
