Transportation disrupted in 19 highways

Vehicular movement has been obstructed in seven highways, while it is partially conducted in 12 other highways following the incessant rainfall causing floods and landslides in different parts of the country.

The Department of Roads shared that 51 other roadways disturbed by the disaster incidents are resumed after clearing obstruction. Efforts are on to resume the blocked highways as well, it added.

Spokesperson at Department, Shyam Bahadur Khadka, said the authorities have mobilized heavy equipment as dozers, excavators and loaders to remove the obstructions. It has also requested passengers and transport entrepreneurs to embark on travel only after receiving updated information on road condition from relevant offices.

As per Nepal Police update, the Kanti Highway, the Mechi Highway, the Diktel-Bhojpur roadway, the Tatopani roadway (at Jurikhokla of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4) and the Araniko Highway are completely inoperative.

Other highways with partial operation of vehicles are Mid Hill Highway (Bhojpur section) and Pasang Lhamu Highway.

Vehicular movement has been restricted on BP Highway during night time, considering potential of floods. (RSS)
