The company has decided to enter into two hydropower projects with a capacity of 64 MW to be promoted by Sindhujwala Hydropower Limited.
The Board of Directors meeting of Buddhabhumi Nepal Hydropower held on July 21 has decided to invest 51 percent stake in Sindhujwala Hydropower.
With this investment, Buddhabhumi has ensured its control and participation in the 43 MW Upper Nashyam Hydropower Project and the 21 MW Upper Nashyam A Hydropower Project to be constructed by Sindhujwala.
The move is in line with the company's strategy to diversify its portfolio and secure long-term revenue streams. In recent years, there has been a wave of strategic partnerships among Nepal's hydropower promoters, buying projects or increasing production capacity through joint ventures. This decision of Buddhabhumi is also seen as a trend of the same tendency.
Currently, Buddhabhumi Nepal Hydropower operates the 4.993 MW Lower Tadi Khola Hydropower Project in Nuwakot. With the investment in new projects, the company's power generation capacity is expected to increase significantly in the coming days and will be able to provide more returns to the shareholders.
