Absconding over charges of financial irregularities and statutory violations, Rimal was taken into custody on Thursday from Sifal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7, by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
The government had filed a case against Rimal under the Securities Act and the Insurance Act. Rimal’s involvement surfaced in a broader financial investigation involving business figures like Deepak Bhatt, leading to him being listed as a fugitive for an extended period.
Following his arrest while still under official suspension from his post, CIB personnel presented Rimal before the Kathmandu District Court in Babarmahal for legal proceedings. The arrest follows formal complaints filed by regulatory authorities regarding severe lapses in corporate governance, sending a strong signal about stricter legal enforcement within Nepal's insurance industry.
