During the first session of the budget implementation discussion series launched by the Ministry of Finance, the Minister said, "The government is ready to create an environment conducive to investment and its protection."
He said that the government's budget of Rs 2,124 billion is expected to drive the Rs. 6,600 billion economy, with the private sector in its driving seat.
Stating that the budget has introduced ample reforms to create greater investment opportunities for the private sector, the Minister also urged industrialists and the business community to clearly identify any additional policy barriers that need to be removed.
According to the Minister, the current first year marks the first year of the government's five-year economic roadmap. He said the government has already initiated a series of reform measures and that several more significant initiatives are in the pipeline. He urged the private sector to collaborate with the government to this end, adding that the government remains committed to supporting the private sector.
The discussions, held on Tuesday, lasted for around five years and were attended by over two dozen representatives from the business community. During the interaction, the Minister assured participants that their concerns and grievances regarding excise and customs duty, export grants, and the banking sector would be addressed by establishing an institutional mechanism.
