Buddhabhumi Nepal Hydropower Records Profit

Buddhabhumi Nepal Hydropower Company (BNHC) has has published fourth quarter financial report of the last FY. According to the public report, the company has been able to earn profit by covering the losses of the previous year.

In the last FY, the company earned Rs 185 million from sales income compared to Rs 143.7 million in the previous FY. The company posted a net profit of Rs 12 million in the last FY compared to Rs 2.25 million net loss of the previous FY.

The company's operating profit increased by 42.45 percent to Rs 90.5 million from Rs 63.5 million in the previous year. The company's bank loan repayment and financial expenses decreased to Rs 78.6 million from Rs 87.5 million in the previous year.

With the issuance of right shares, the capital base of the company has strengthened. The company's paid-up capital has increased by 100 percent to Rs 800 million in the last FY from Rs 400 million in the previous FY. The company's past accumulated losses are decreasing. The bank which had accumulated a loss of Rs 104.7 million in the previous FY managed to turn into positive reserve fund of Rs 3 million.

The long-term debt of the company decreased to Rs 738.9 million from Rs 915.6 million in the previous year. The total assets of the company stood at Rs 1.58 billion.

The company has started commercial generation from the 4.99 MW Lower Todikhola Hydropower Project on March 24, 2078/79. The company has been able to reduce bank loan by increasing its capital through right shares. The recovery of the reserve fund and the return to net profit is a positive sign that the door of dividend will be opened for the shareholders in the coming days.
