Jyoti Bikas Bank's Profit Increases Significantly, What Is Distributable Profit?

Jyoti Bikas Bank Limited (JBBL) has published fourth quarter financial report of the last FY. . According to the report, the net profit of the bank has increased significantly compared to the same period of the previous FY.

The bank earned a net profit of Rs 1.59 billion in the review period of the last FY. This is 905.750 percent more than the corresponding period of the previous FY. The bank had posted a net profit of Rs 102 million in the same quarter last year.

Although the interest income increased modestly, the net profit increased due to the reverse of the impairment charge.

In the review period, the bank's net interest income increased by 11.77 percent and total operating income increased by 13.88 percent. In the review period, the non-performing loan of the bank decreased from 7.75 percent to 6.55 percent. The bank's impairment charge has been revised to Rs 301.2 million from Rs 878.5 million  in the previous FY. As a result, the bank's operating profit and net profit have increased significantly. During the period, the bank's distributable profit stood at Rs 144.3 million.

Along with the profit, the bank's earnings per share has also increased significantly. In the review period, the bank's income increased by Rs 20.61 to Rs 22.88. During the period, the bank has P/E ratio of 14.82 times and net worth per share of Rs 170.97.

The bank has paid-up capital of Rs 4.39 billion and reserve fund of Rs 3.11 billion. During the period, the bank collected deposit of Rs 67.22 billion and extended loan of Rs 49.58 billion.
