The Chief District officer of the relevant district has also been instructed to relocate residents of high-risk areas (low-lying downstream areas) to safe places. In addition, continuous information is being shared to move other citizens who may be further affected by the flood to safe places.
The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers has directed the concerned authorities to stop operation of vehicles on the Prithvi Highway, Galchhi–Nuwakot–Rasuwa Syafrubesi Road, and Muglin–Narayangadh Road due to the risk of flooding.
As soon as Prime Minister Balendra Shah gave the instructions, the concerned agencies deployed their mechanisms and intensified rescue, search, and relief efforts in the flood-affected areas.
The district-level disaster authority has ramped up its activities to that end. The Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and district administration have sped up the rescue and search for the victims. Also, the Nepali Army has intensified the rescue and search from its side as well.
Under Prime Minister Shah's direction, two Nepali Army helicopters with medical teams have already been dispatched to the affected areas for rescue and relief. In addition, private company helicopters are kept ready for rescue and search operations.
A meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) is ongoing at the Home Ministry. Also, Prime Minister Shah has called a meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management at 11:00am at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' office to discuss the same matter.(RSS)
