The Flood Forecasting Division, the Centre of Hydrology and Water Resources Research has reported that the water level in the Bhotekoshi, Trishuli, and nearby rivers are expected to rise today, and there is a high chance of flash floods.

Saraswati Bista, a flood expert at the Division, urged residents in the riverbank areas in Rasuwa and Nuwakot to be highly alert.

"A lake has been formed near the Nepal-China border area. Since this lake could burst at any time, we have been urging the general public to stay highly alert until further notice. With the possibility of rain, there is a high risk of flooding in those districts today and tomorrow," she said.

According to Bista, there is a possibility that the water level may rise today in rivers and streams flowing through districts like Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Dhading, Makawanpur, Chitwan, Gorkha, Tanahun, Lamjung, Manang, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung, Rukum East, Rukum West, Rolpa, Salyan, Surkhet, Jajarkot, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, and Kanchanpur, and nearby districts.

The Division has suggested the general public living in coastal areas and traveling along riverbanks to stay alert, as there is a risk of flash floods in the small rivers and streams in those areas. (RSS)
