The decision was finalized following a high-level meeting convened by Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Gauri Kumari Yadav, alongside officials from the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) and local LPG industrialists.
Under this temporary measure, residents facing shortages of their usual brand can now purchase gas from alternative providers without being restricted to proprietary cylinders. The ministry stated that the initiative aims to provide immediate relief and normalize market availability while flood-impacted transport routes are restored.
Minister Yadav has issued strict directives to the NOC and all gas industries to enforce the decision immediately. Furthermore, the ministry warned that stern legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to exploit the crisis by creating artificial shortages, harassing consumers who wish to exchange cylinders, or failing to comply with the new regulations.
