In a press release issued on Friday, the Secretariat addressed recent media reports and public discussions, stating that its serious attention had been drawn to what it termed "propaganda" regarding the policy shift.
The Secretariat explicitly refuted claims that the Finance Minister held meetings on Sunday evening or during the previous week to discuss rolling back the VAT exemption.
According to the statement, policy implementation is proceeding strictly in line with the positions articulated by the Finance Minister during sessions in the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.
Relevant bodies under the Ministry are conducting necessary studies and discussions to further facilitate the issue and ensure relief is provided to consumers, the release added.
