Government Fails to Collect Targeted Revenue; Capital Expenditure Nears 70%

The government has failed to collect targeted revenue in the current FY. As per the Office of Auditor General (OAG), the government collected 83.66 percent revenue till July 15, a day before the closing of the current FY.

The government targeted to collect Rs 831.31 billion in revenue in the current FY. However, the statistics of OAG shows that the government collected revenue of Rs 695.47 billion by July 15.

The government requires collecting Rs 135.85 billion in revenue in the last day to meet the set target.

Similarly, the government has spent Rs 1000.72 billion in expenditure till July 15 which is just 81.55 percent of the targeted expenditure of Rs 1315.16 billion. The government spent Rs 708.11 billion in current expenditure, Rs 223.46 billion in capital expenditure and Rs 140.93 billion in financial management till the date.

As per OAG, the government spent 83.76 percent of current expenditure, 66.74 percent of capital expenditure and 90.50percent of financial management of the targeted expenditure.
