"As the share investment, government provided Rs 3 billion to the Sajha Yatayat to develop high capacity transport system," he said at a press meet in the Ministry on Thursday.
The Minister asserted that the operation of big buses would ensure convenient and modern transport facility at low cost. "Small vehicles are facing tough time to manage the transportation in the capital city. So, the government prioritized the operation of big buses," he argued.
He, however, urged the Sajha Yatayat to improve its financial health and operate the service commercially.
The Minister further said the concerned body was investigating the vandalism of Buddha's statues in Rupandehi. "It is not necessary to raise question doubting this as an attack on religious tolerance," he reminded the journalists, adding that the investigation would make public the details about the incident. Nepal is a multilingual, multi-religious country having numerous temples, monasteries, mosques, etc, the Minister underscored.
He ruled out the possibility of intimidation on religious tolerance because of the incident.
Minister Banskota shared that the government was transparent and had not hidden any information. The government was making public every important decision and has no intention to hide the information of public interest. In a query of media persons why the government was not making the decisions public, Minister Banskota refuted it and said that each citizen has the right to information.
On another note, he clarified that the talks with Biplab-led party was not for power gain, but for solution of problems.
The Minister also said that the talks were possible in a political form and nature with meaningful agendas. According to him, solution could be achieved within a minute if the Biplab-led party followed the constitution.
