Investors express confusion over dividend status

Although many commercial banks have already conducted their AGM, they have delayed distribution of announced dividend which has created confusion among the shareholders.

Shareholders of Nabil, Sanima, Everest, Machhapuchchhre, Standard Chartered and Janata Bank are in confusion about the status of their dividend.

The aforementioned banks have not published any public notices regarding the dividend distribution unlike the recent trend among listed companies. However, NEPSE informed that issuance of public notice regarding the dividend distribution is not mandatory for the listed companies.

Among the commercial banks, NIC Asia Bank, Siddhartha Bank, Nepal Bangladesh Bank, Civil Bank, Bank of Kathmandu, Nepal SBI Bank, Sunrise Bank, Laxmi Bank, Mega Bank, Citizens Bank, Global IME Bank, NMB Bank and Nepal Bank published a public notice for shareholders regarding distribution of dividend.

Similarly, four commercial banks including NCC Bank, Prime Bank, Kumari Bank and Prabhu Bank declared stock dividend only.

Moreover, two commercial banks including NCC Bank and Government owned Rastriya Banijya Bank just called out AGM and two commercial banks including Himalayan Bank and Century Commercial Bank have not called out for AGM of the last FY.
