Intentionally infecting others with COVID-19 could result in 10 years jail term, Rs 100,000 penalty

People who intentionally infect others with communicable diseases like COVID-19 could face a jail term of 10 years and penalty up to Rs 100,000.

The National Criminal Procedure(Code) Act, 2017 of the country has a provision that prohibits spreading any kind of infectious disease which may endanger the life of any person.

If anyone breaks the law intentionally or deliberately, there is a provision of imprisonment for up to 10 years and a penalty of up to Rs 100,000.

Given that the ongoing pandemic is a contagious disease, if anyone spread the disease deliberately, he/she will be punished accordingly.
