COVID-19 Insurance to resurface after shutting down for a day

Insurance Board (IB) has directed non-life insurance companies to re-continue COVID-19 insurance policy.

The companies along with IB had decided to stop issuing the insurance policy citing failure to meet the huge liabilities causing by multiplication of the COVID-19 cases.

Issuing a notice today, IB directed the companies to continue issuing the policy.

The insurance coverage that was started without adequate research and risk analysis was closed after 48 days of operation.

As the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing day by day, the insurance companies stopped the insurance citing inability to cover the liability.
