‘No Option Of Not Allowing E-Banking’

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has said that the microfinance companies are allowed to carry out e-banking services. Although the mechanism related to e-banking has been removed from unified directives, approval for e-banking has been given by the Department of Payment, said NRB.

In the unified directives issued on Thursday, NRB removed d the previously included mechanism that allows microfinance companies to provide digital banking services.

Prakash Shrestha, Executive Director of Microfinance Supervision Department of NRB said that the mechanism is removed from unified directives as to the it is to look after by the Department of Payment. “In order to insert it in circular from the payment department, it is removed from unified directives. NRB gives utmost priority to e-banking. There is no option of not allowing e-banking,” he said.
