Life Insurance Companies Issue Rs 45 Bn in Loans Against Policies

In the first quarter of the current FY, 19 life insurance companies operating in Nepal has extended Rs 45.32 billion worth of loans against insurance policies.  

During the period, Nepal Life Insurance extended the highest loan against insurance policies of Rs 16.89 billion. Following the company, LIC Nepal extended 13.09 billion, National Life 5.36 billion, Asian Life Rs 2.73 billion, Prime Life has extended Rs 1.28 billion in loans.

Except these, none of the other companies have extended loans against policies above Rs 1 billion. Met Life has extended Rs 990 million, Surya Life Rs 950 million and Reliable Life has extended the lowest of Rs 20 million in such loans.

These companies earned Rs 1.35 billion from such loan, in which, Nepal Life earned the highest of Rs 524.4 million followed by LIC Nepal Rs 485.6 million, National Life Rs 120.6 million, Asian Life Rs 61.8 million, Prime Life Rs 31.3 million,  Rastriya Beema Sanstha Rs 26.2 million, Met Life Rs 24.4 million, Surya Life Rs 22.5 million, Union Life Rs 21 million and Gurans Life Rs 19 million.

Reliable Life has earned the lowest with such loans amounting to Rs 30,000. Similarly, although Prabhu Life extended Rs 3.4 million and Sanima Life extended Rs 48.5 million in such loans, they have not registered any income.
