NEPSE Index Grew 79% in 2020; Which Sub-Group Logged the Highest Growth?

In the year 2020, NEPSE index has grown by 79.01 percent. The index that closed at 1166.03 points on December 31,2019 closed at 2089.27 points on December 31,2020. The index increased by 921.24 points during the period.

It is the highest closing point till date in the NEPSE history. Moreover, the index broke many records in the gone year.

During the year, the sensitive index increased by 58.02 percent. The index that closed at 252.31 points on the last trading day of the previous FY increased 146.39 points to closed at 398.70 points on the last trading day of the last year.

Similarly, the total market capitalization had also reached a new height. On December 31, 2020, the total market capitalization reached Rs 2808 billion which increased by 88.98 percent to Rs 1322 billion. In the previous year, the total market capitalization was Rs 1486 billion.

Out of the 12 total sub-group, Trading Sub-group logged the highest growth of 236.68 percent. the index of the sub-group which was 682.88 points on the previous year increased by 1616.22 points to 2299.10 points of the last year.

On the basis of points, life insurance sub-group logged the highest growth. The index of the subgroup increased by 7477.76 points.

 Meanwhile, the index of the Hotel subgroup logged the least growth of 3.20 percent.
