NRB Bars BFIs from Issuing Public Notice on Default Loan before 6mths

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued a unified directive to banks and financial institutions (BFIs) on Monday. As per the directive, the BFIs are allowed to issue a public notice on non-performing loan only after six months of default. 

NRB states that before issuing a public notice on default long-term loan for recovery or collateral auction, the BFIs should keep the non-performing loans in a suspicious category and should be matured by six months.

Following the directive, BFIs are now required to wait a minimum of 6 months to auction collateral.
