The board of directors meeting of DDC held on February 9 increased the milk price to Rs 85 per liter. Previously, the milk price was Rs 76 per liter. Following this, consumers will have to pay Rs 42.50 per packet of half liter milk. The price per packet was Rs 38 previously.
DDC stated that the dairy farmers will get Rs 6.52 per liter increment in their product while the dairy operators will get Rs 2.48 per liter increment .
Earlier, the cabinet meeting of the ministers held on January 31 decided to increase the milk price for farmers by Rs 6.52 to Rs 56.04 per liter. Previously the milk price was Rs 49.52 per liter.
The government took the decision as per the demand made by dairy farmers. They had been demanding an immediate hike of Rs 15-20 per liter in milk prices citing increase in cost of production.
