Both reinsurance companies have invested 87.15 percent i.e. Rs 22.62 billion in fixed deposits of BFIs.
Nepal Reinsurance Company has invested Rs 300 million in government bonds, Rs 13.78 billion in FD of ‘A’ listed BFIs, Rs 1.70 billion in FD of ‘B’ category BFIs, and Rs 94.7 million in stocks of listed companies. Moreover, the company invested Rs 1.64 billion in secured debenture and Rs 1.10 billion in promoter shares under other investment.
Similarly, Himalayan Re has invested Rs 7.11 billion in FD of ‘A’ listed BFIs, Rs 200 million in preferential shares and debentures of BFIs and Rs 300 million in FD of “B’ category BFIs.
However, both companies have not invested in sectors like FD of Nepal Infrastructure Bank, FD in ‘C’ listed BFIS, real estate, agriculture, tourism and hydropower as required by Investment Guidelines.
