According to the data of the last FY, the banks invested 4.78 percent of their total lending to real estate and 1.55 percent to real estate.
In the last FY, the banks extended a total of Rs 4.175 trillion of loans with a very low contribution to real estate and margin lending.
The overall lending to the sectors are way below the limit provided by Nepal Rastra Bank. The central bank has allowed up to 40 percent lending of its primary capital to the sectors.
In real estate, Century Commercial Bank has extended the highest lending of Rs 199 billion which is 4.78 percent of the total loan extension of the banks.
The bank has invested 9.26 percent of its total lending to the real estate sector.
In the meantime, Kumari Bank has the lowest lending of 0.84 percent of total lending to the sector.
Similarly, commercial banks have invested Rs 64 billion in margin lending which is 1.55 percent of the total lending.
In the last FY, Citizens Bank lent 3 percent of its total lending to the sector whereas Nepal SBI Bank lent merely 0.03 percent to the sector.
