NTA to ban operation of unregistered mobile phone from Dec 30

Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) is set to ban operation of unregistered mobile phone from December 30.  

The telecom authority, which partially launched mobile software security software system (MDMS) from Bhadra 30 is set to implement the system in full-fledged.

As per NTA, the system is being implemented in order to control illegal trading of mobile phones.

After the implementation of the software, the mobile phones that enter the country without registration will be unable to operate.  Moreover, the system will help the regulator control the grey phone market, and track or block stolen or missing phones.
