Gold Price Makes New Record in Local Market after Govt Raises Custom Duty

The gold price has made the highest record in the domestic market on May 31.

According to Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold is Rs 112,000 per tola and tejabi gold is Rs 111,450 per tola.

The gold price increased by Rs 1,500 per tola compared to the previous day.

On May 30, the price of fine gold was Rs 110,500 per tola and tejabi gold was Rs 109,950 per tola.

Previously, the gold price made record on May 4. On the day, the price of fine gold made record with Rs 111,800 per tola and tejabi gold at Rs 111,250 per tola.

Similarly, the silver price also rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1395 per tola.

On May 29, through budget, the government raised the custom duty of gold and silver by 15 percent. Morevoer, it also imposed 2 percent luxury tax on diamonds, pearls, gold and silver worth Rs one million.
