Govt Back Down Controversial Tax Policy on CGT

The government has backed down its controversial tax policy introduced in the recent budget speech.

A meeting between Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and Investors led the government to withdraw the decision.

Tulsi Ram Dhakal, Chairman of Nepal Investors Forum said that an agreement has been made regarding the capital gain tax between the government and investors.

A draft has been made regarding the decision, added Dhakal.

It has been agreed that the 7.5 percent and 5 percent tax payable by the investors in capital gain is the final tax for the transaction.
