Speaking in the general deliberations on the Annual Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for Fiscal Year 2023/24 in lower house of the Federal Parliament, Minister Mahat added that the government raised the tax in consumer items to increase consumption of domestic produce.
He clarified that the government has allotted enough budget to Madhesh. He said that the budget has allocated a sufficient amount to national pride and big projects in Madesh including East-West Highway, Pathalaiya-Birgunj Corridor, Chandrapur-Gaur Highway, Postal Highway and Sunkoshi Marine, Bagmati, Kamala, Chandra canal and others.
Mahat clarified that the allegation of leakage of information regarding vehicle tax is baseless. The letter of credit (LC) for vehicle import was prepared much earlier he said.
