In a bid to collect internal loans for the government, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) issues Treasury Bills (T-Bills) which have raked more applications. Along with it, the discount rate of such T-Bills have also fall.
On Monday, the central bank sought renewal of T-Bills worth Rs 18.71 billion which raked applications worth Rs 63.53 billion.
NRB called out to renew 28 days T-Bills amounting to Rs 8 billion which raked applications worth Rs 28.82 billion. Commercial banks had filed for discount rate of 2.99 percent to 3.73 billion in which NRB set the rate at 3.44 percent. Previously, the discount rate for 28- days T-Bills were set at 6.12 percent.
Similarly, 91 days T-Bills raked application worth Rs 28.74 billion when NRB asked for renewing T-Bills worth Rs 10.11 billion only. The average discount rate has been set at 5.35 percent compared to 5.46 percent of previous issuance.
Likewise, 182 days T-Bills raked applications worth Rs 5.97 billion. NRB was seeking to renew T-Bills of Rs 600 million only. The average interest rate has been set at 5.39 percent. Previously, the rate was set at 6.04 percent.
