The Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board, which is managing the port, has permitted Trans Nepal Freight Services to operate the port through an open competition. Apart from TransNepal Freight Services, New Nepal Dhuwani Sewa, Birgunj had participated in the bidding process.
As per Ashish Gajurel, Executuve Director of board, the management and operation of the dry port has been handed over to the private sector according to the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board Guideline, 2054 and Terminal Leasing Out Regulation 2070 BS.
Trans will pay Rs 28.8 million as rent to the government for the next five years.
