Previously, Nepali citizens encountered obstacles in obtaining Indian SIM cards due to technical issues.
Addressing this issue, the Indian government made amendments to the previous requirements to ease the process after request of the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.
Under the new guidelines, Nepali citizens visiting India can acquire mobile connections using their passport, citizenship certificate, voter ID card, or a limited validity photo ID certificate issued by the Nepali mission in India.
However, Nepalis entering India via third countries must provide a copy of their passport along with valid visa stamps.
