The price of fine gold per tola in the local market rose by Rs 2,000 on Thursday, reaching a new high of Rs 164,400.
A day earlier, on October 17, gold per tola saw gain of Rs 600, bringing it to Rs 162,400 per tola.
Similarly, the silver price also rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1,950 per tola.
In the international bullion market, the price of gold per ounce increased by $7, bringing the new global price to a record high of $2,682, steered by uncertainty surrounding the US election and expectations of more interest rate cuts by major central banks, while spotlight shifted to a slew of US data.
Spot gold rose 0.3% to $2,680.19 per ounce by 0458 GMT, after hitting a record high of $2,685.60 earlier in the session.
US gold futures gained 0.2% to $2,695.90.
