According to Suraj Adhikari, Information Minister at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning of the Bagmati Province, the provincial government has spent only 16.27 percent of its total budget as of mid-January.
The provincial government's annual budget for the current fiscal year is around Rs 64.5 billion, out of which only Rs 10.5 billion was spent in the past six months, informed Adhikari, adding that the capital expenditure remained low this year.
Of the allocated budget, the Office of the Chief Attorney General spent the highest budget at 41.56 percent followed by the Province Assembly Secretariat at 28.36 percent during this period while the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, Industry and Cooperative recorded the lowest spending at 4.6 percent, said the Ministry.
