The national scheme—aimed at tackling tax evasion and curbing revenue leakage—offers buyers a chance to win up to Rs 1,00,0000 (10 Lakhs) in cash prizes.
Cash Prizes and Draw Schedule
Under the new procedure issued by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), lucky draws will take place automatically using electronic software:
-
Daily Draw: Rs 1,33,334 awarded to one winner every single day.
-
Fortnightly Bumper Prize: Rs 10 Lakhs awarded to one winner every 15 days.
Tax Note: According to the Income Tax Act, a 25% windfall tax will be withheld at source before the final payout is transferred.
How Consumers Can Participate
To automatically enter the draw, consumers must meet the following basic criteria:
-
Transaction Minimum: Purchase goods or services worth at least Rs 100 (in a single receipt) for personal, non-commercial use within Nepal.
-
Digital Payment & Verification: Pay via electronic modes (e-wallets, mobile banking, cards) and ensure the merchant generates an invoice synced directly into the IRD server.
-
Valid Merchant: The bill must be issued by a registered seller with a valid Permanent Account Number (PAN).
Note: Cash transactions can also be entered manually by registering the invoice details, date, and seller PAN on the IRD web portal or mobile app.

Not all invoices qualify for the prize draws. Ineligible receipts include:
-
Commercial or business-purpose purchases intended for resale.
-
Receipts issued by government bodies or public sector undertakings.

The original purchase invoice
