Dry landslide damages Gharkhola hydropower project, ones goes missing

A person has gone missing and another one got injury when a dry landslide occurred at Pokharebagar of Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 in Myagdi. The landslide occurred this morning also damaged the powerhouse of Gharkhola Hydropower Project.

 

A worker at the powerhouse, Dipak Baruwal, 55, went missing in the landslide while another Surendra BK, 31, was injured, according to the District Police Office. Baruwal is from Annapurna-6 and BK from Gauriganga Municipality-5.

The search for the missing one is continuous with joint effort of police persons, Nepali Army staffs, the Armed Police Force, people's representatives and locals. The injured one has been sent to Province Hospital, Beni after rescue and general treatment, according to Police Inspector Sagar Timilsina.

Equipment in the hydropower with the capacity of 14-MW received damages, resulting in disruption of power production. (RSS)
