He passed away on Sunday at 6:30 am while undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu.
Rana who is also the founder of Himalayan Bank worked as a former finance secretary.
He then was appointed as the first Governor of NRB during its establishment.
Rana also worked as a representative in various countries from 1962 to 1986 under the United Nations Development Programme.
