Rainfall is likely to take place in the areas surrounding Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts which suffered much by the flash floods on August 26.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, it is cloudy in these areas and rainfall is possible in the afternoon.

Meteorologist David Dhakal said, "Cloudy skies have been seen above the flood-hit areas. Rainfall up to moderate scale is likely in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading in the afternoon, while heavy rainfall has been forecast at one or two place." Such prediction is likely to affect the rescue works.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall is likely in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces today, as well as in the hilly areas of Karnali Province and in one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Similarly, moderate to heavy rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning has been forecast in various places in the mountainous and hilly areas of the country.

Meanwhile, experts have drawn the attention of the parties concerned that the risk of flood in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river areas remains and there is a possibility of the glacial lake formed in the upper area bursting, causing challenges in relief and rescue efforts.

People residing along the riverbank and security personnel and other human resources deployed in search and rescue operations have been requested to remain on high alert in such potential adverse situation.(RSS)
