Every year, the central bank makes arrangements for the exchange of new banknotes as the public hand out new notes to their near and dear ones after Dashain Tika.
The general public stands in a long queue in front of NRB and commercial banks to exchange new notes. NRB usually avails new banknotes of denominations Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50 and Rs 100 during Dashain.
As per Rewati Nepal, Executive Director of NRB, although the central bank is preparing to distribute new notes from Sunday, September 11, the decision will be taken on Wednesday only.
This year too, arrangements will be made to distribute the new notes through the commercial banks to avoid long queues at the central bank.
